Ozone Layer Depletion Causes and Effects

Ozone depletion occurs when the natural balance between its production and destruction in the stratosphere is disturbed in favor of its destruction. Human activities are the main factor causing the disruption of this natural balance, mainly due to emissions to the atmosphere of synthetic chemicals known as ozone-depleting substances. And about the effects of ozone depletion on humans, the studies have shown that exposure to UV radiation is linked to many human health problems, including skin cancer. The scientists are also indicating that with the increased exposure to UV-B affects the human immune system which leads to premature aging of the skin.
